Hello Reader, Greetings from the high seas! It’s Day 5 of my 21-day Diamond Princess Cruise, and today, we’ve berthed at Alotau in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea. While many passengers are heading ashore, I’m taking this time to soak in the views, drink a coffee, and write this newsletter. The food? Incredible—so much so that I'm going to bring home a couple of extra kilos! Although, I’m trying hard to balance it out with a daily gym session and plenty of stair-climbing between decks. The ship's movement has been surprisingly smooth—a bit like being on a long-haul flight, but without the turbulence. So far, no seasickness! The crew is phenomenal—a diverse team from all over the world, always friendly, always helpful. Between gourmet meals, world-class entertainment, and the occasional bit of work, this truly feels like the best of both worlds. Next stop: Manila! A Smarter Way to Work While You Travel (or Anywhere!) Speaking of work, while I’m enjoying this cruise, I’m also getting things done—thanks to Google Workspace Business Standard. It’s an absolute game-changer for independent professionals who need powerful tools without breaking the bank. I have all my work emails for 13th Beach Marketing and Wisepreneurs through Google Workspace, but the upgrade provides powerful integrations and I can get rid of several other apps, like Zoom, at the same time. Here’s why it’s worth the upgrade: ✅ Google Meet: Host unlimited, high-quality video meetings without time limits—a great alternative to Zoom that saves you the cost of an extra subscription. Plus, seamless integration with Google Calendar and Drive makes scheduling and file-sharing effortless. ✅ NotebookLM: If you deal with research, this tool is a productivity powerhouse. Upload notes, PDFs, or recordings, and it will analyze, summarize, and extract key insights—perfect for articles, presentations, or client reports. ✅ Gemini AI: Your personal AI assistant for: • Summarizing lengthy documents (great for contracts and reports) • Translating content (expand your global reach) • Generating content (emails, social media, blog ideas—effortlessly) • Assisting with legal document review (flagging key clauses, though always consult a pro!) While I still use ChatGPT which I love using, by leveraging these Google tools, I can stay productive even while cruising in the middle of the ocean. If you’re looking to streamline your workflow, save money, and reclaim your time, this is an upgrade worth considering! Just $20 per month. Hello Reader, Work, Wander, and… Wi-Fi? This past month I went on a bit of an experiment: working while traveling — a “workation,” inspired by my podcast chat with Filip Drimalka. Three weeks on a cruise. One week on a bus tour in Japan. A laptop in one hand, coffee in the other. And a lot of lessons along the way. The cruise? Surprisingly productive — when I wasn’t distracted by shows, sightseeing, or saying yes to another dessert (I came back 2kg heavier). I did manage to keep up with some...
Hello Reader,As I send out this newsletter, I’m in the final stretch of my cruise, preparing to land in Kagoshima—my first stop in Japan. While the idea of a “workation” sounded appealing, I’ve learned that balancing work and travel isn’t as effortless as it seems. The distractions are plenty, and the food? Simply too good to ignore. Next time, I might opt for a single destination—working first, then fully immersing myself in the experience. Despite the challenges, I’ve made significant...
